What to do at the scene of an accident?

If you ever were to be in involved in a road traffic accident, keep in mind that you need to gather as much data about the accident, and the parties involved in the accident. Ideally, you always have a card or a piece of paper in your car and something to write with. If you do not have one, you can always use your phone and take pictures of the scene of the accident, the license plate of the vehicles involved, and the individual who is responsible for the accident.

It is important to collect as much information as possible, in particular, car registration number, name of the driver, his insurance policy number and the name and address of the insurance company. With regard to the circumstances of the incident, write down the name of the street or road number, time and date of the accident. If your road traffic accident involved a bus, remember to write down the bus drivers name and the Bus route number.

These things may seem very simple and obvious right now but when you just had an accident you may be nervous and forget to collect the necessary data. The best thing to do, is write down all the necessary details which need to be collected, on a piece of paper and keep it in your car, just in case you were to ever have a car accident.

What to do if you saw an accident.

If you saw a car accident, walk up to both sides involved and offer your details (Name and Phone number). This information will be very useful for the person who was injured in the vehicle collision.
